Scope of Practice

Scope of Practice

Sports massage and soft tissue therapy provided by Performance Consolidated operates within the professional scope of Level 3 and Level 4 Sports Massage Therapy qualifications.

These qualifications allow the practitioner to assess and treat non-acute soft tissue dysfunction, muscular tension, and movement restriction affecting the musculoskeletal system.

Treatment approaches are designed to support recovery, reduce muscular tension, and improve movement quality.

What Sports Massage Can Help With

Sports massage may help address:

• Muscular tightness or tension
• Restricted movement or mobility
• Postural muscular imbalance
• Training-related muscle fatigue
• Recovery between training sessions
• Persistent areas of muscular discomfort

Treatment techniques may include a combination of soft tissue therapy methods tailored to the individual client.

What Sports Massage Does Not Include

Sports massage therapy is not a medical service and does not involve:

• Medical diagnosis
• Treatment of acute injuries
• Treatment of medical conditions requiring clinical care
• Physiotherapy or rehabilitation for diagnosed injuries

If symptoms fall outside the practitioner's professional scope of practice, clients may be advised to seek assessment from a qualified healthcare professional.

Professional Boundaries

Performance Consolidated operates within recognised professional standards for sports massage therapy.

This includes working within the limits of training and qualifications and referring clients to appropriate healthcare professionals where necessary.

Maintaining clear professional boundaries helps ensure treatment is delivered safely, responsibly, and in the best interests of the client.
